Your hire options
We offer two trusted options to suit your needs and budget, both from phil&teds®, a world-renowned New Zealand brand known for safe, innovative travel gear for babies.
How it works
Online or instore: Complete your checkout online or talk to a team member instore to set up your hire plan.
Hire for a six-month term: Choose from our foundational or premium car seat options. Need more time? You can easily extend your hire later.
Delivery or pick-up: Collect in-store with a free expert installation and demo, or have it shipped directly to your preferred address.
Pay rental deposit: Bub Club™ members skip the deposit!
Return when you're done: Simply return the seat in-store or via courier at the end of your hire term.
Post hire assessment: Every car seat receives a full babycity® Hire WoF – Thoroughly cleaned and safety-checked to meet our highest standards before its next hire.

Yes! If you need more time, simply get in contact with us before your hire term ends and we’ll help you extend it.
Yes, you're welcome to return your car seat before the end of your hire period. However, please note the full term fee may still apply depending on your original hire agreement. If you're unsure, feel free to ask us before returning.
Absolutely. Every hired seat is thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and safety-checked between hires. Your child’s safety is our top priority.
Our hire capsules are either brand new or refurbished (meaning they’ve been previously hired but are fully reconditioned to meet safety and hygiene standards).
Yes, you can hire multiple seats, subject to availability. Ideal for twins or visiting family who need a short-term solution.
Yes a $50 bond will be required at the time of purchase. If you're a Bub Club member and provide a valid New Zealand residential address, no bond is required. In some cases, we may request a bond at our discretion.
The customer covers freight costs both to and from their chosen address. To avoid freight charges, you’re welcome to collect and return in-store.
It’s easy! Online go through the usual checkout process and you'll be presented with a link to the Rental Agreement. By completing the checkout you are agreeing to this rental agreement.
In store, you can read and sign the rental agreement in person.
Babycity® does. We also repair faults. The hirer is obliged to treat the goods with care, may clean without damage. The hirer will pay for excess fair wear and tear.
Your monthly hire covers the use of the car seat and access to our support services.
Additional charges may apply for:
- Delivery (if selected)
- A bond (if required)
If you’ve been involved in a serious car accident, please contact us as soon as possible. For your child’s safety, the hired car seat must be replaced if any of the following conditions apply — even if the seat appears undamaged.
- Was the vehicle unable to be driven from the scene?
- Was the vehicle door nearest to the car seat damaged?
- Was there any broken glass on the car seat or its components?
- Did anyone in the vehicle sustain injuries (including whiplash or delayed neck pain)?
- If the vehicle has air-bags, did they deploy?
- Is there any visible damage to the car seat? (e.g., broken parts, stress marks on plastic, stretched harness webbing, damaged top tether stitching, cracks, or buckling when placed on a flat surface)
